Georgia CASA Conference
The Georgia CASA State Conference will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta! $25 - CASA volunteers, board members and staff by March 13
This year celebrates 21 years of CASA here in the state of Georgia. Over 20 workshops were offered focusing on how to enhance your skills in working with children. This year's keynote speaker will be Georgia's own Dr. Shirley Garrett. Dr. Garrett is the author of the award-winning book titled A Tap Water Girl in a Bottled Water World. With her infectious laugh and easy manner, Dr. Garrett makes her sage lessons on life sound like advice from a friend -- a very wise friend. Conference attendees will walk away with a new perspective, and have fun as they laugh and learn. Her gift of normalizing life/work stressors helps the audience “let go” and become ready for learning. Through interactive exercises and relative anecdotes, attendees make the transition back into their worlds armed with “ready to implement” ideas and techniques. And, Dr. Garrett will help create a sense of connection among the attendees . . . kind of a “we’re all in this together” focus. In addition to Dr. Garrett's keynote address and the myriad of workshops offered, there is an opportunity to network with over 400 CASA volunteers, board members, staff, and other professionals throughout the day.
